The Rhode Island Historical Society is inviting you to a special event titled Love Our Collections: Depositing History: The Old Stone Bank Digitization Project scheduled for February 29th at 12pm Eastern Time.

Join us virtually via Zoom as we delve into the behind-the-scenes work of our team, dedicated to preserving and sharing over 20,000 objects, 9 million feet of motion picture film, and 10 million pages of manuscripts from its vast collection.

The spotlight will be on The Old Stone Bank records, which offer invaluable insights into Rhode Island's immigration history, especially in the 19th century. These records document the origins of thousands of immigrants from various ethnic backgrounds like Irish, Italian, Scandinavian, Eastern Europeans, Azorians, and African Americans who either relocated during or after the Civil War.

We have an exciting line-up for this day, including a presentation by researcher Ray McKenna and Deputy Executive Director Richard Ring. They will guide you through some of the key information revealed in these signature books and share detls about of digitalizing them.
