Eleven Mile Canyon Reservoir - A Hidden Gem for Outdoor Enthusiasts
Eleven Mile Canyon Reservoir, completed in 1932 after an extensive two-year construction period at a cost of $1.5 million, stands tall at an elevation of 135 feet above the South Platte riverbed. This impressive structure boasts the second-largest capacity within Denver Water's system and is one of the largest bodies of water east of the Continental Divide.

Recreation Highlights:
Boating Options: Power boats, canoes, slboats, and windsurfing with full-body wetsuit are allowed within the reservoir. However, boat ramps cannot be used for most motorized crafts when water levels reach certn elevations - North Shore campground at 8,571 feet; Witcher Cove and Little Cove campgrounds at 8,594 feet.
Fishing Opportunities: The reservoir is a treasure trove of rnbow trout, brown trout, cutthroat trout, kokanee salmon, northern pike, and carp. Ice fishing is possible when conditions permit.
Picnic Areas: Enjoy scenic spots for day use.
Trl Adventures: Hiking and biking enthusiasts will relish the 5 miles of trls offering stunning views throughout the year.
Special Events: Denver Water permits special events with advance notice.
Park Pass Requirement: Entry requires a Colorado Parks Wildlife park pass.

Directions:
Take Highway 285 until you reach Frplay.
Continue southeast towards Hartsel via Highway 9, about 15 miles south of Frplay.
Turn left east onto Highway 24 after reaching the intersection with Highway 24 at a stop sign.
Drive for approximately 10 miles on Highway 24.
Upon your right, you will find the entrance to Eleven Mile and Spinney reservoirs; take the gravel road leading to Eleven Mile State Park.
